With commercial photography, especially product photography, a studio space is pretty much essential. Now some photographers will go the route of setting up a home studio in a spare room others will rent a commercial space for their own use but most don't need a dedicated studio for themselves. Until recently there was no real options for fife based photographers wanting to rent a fully equipped space when needed. thankfully now there is, charter studios is a not for profit studio space based in Kirkcaldy.
Charter Studios has a simple goal; to provide not only a space for photographers to create in but also a community where skills and advice can be shared. This is done both through their Facebook group and through the networking events that they host. The studio is well equipped with a wide range of equipment and a fitting room. Below is a video tour of their facilities.
The best thing is, it's accessible, Charter Studios is run on a not for profit model meaning photographers from any skill level can afford to get into the studio and start shooting.
Stewart Thompson Photography will be using Charter Studios starting this year and I can't wait to get into the studio to start shooting!
